Bob Stocks Memorial 9 Ball™

 

 

BOB STOCKS MEMORIAL 9 BALL is an annual billiards tournament series providing competitive 9-ball events and entertainment services, organized by CW-Designs LLC.

 

The Bob Stocks Memorial™ first launched in 2006 on the Tiger Tour schedule when Andy Lincoln and Ceci Strain were masterminding their tour structure.  Its direction, organization, and added money support were carried on with different promoters over the years, with the support of Brandon Shuff, Grai Rasmechai (Pooky), Jerry Pierson (Big Jerry), Anthony Luong, Larry Zabel, Stefano Ariavakis, Mike Veve, and others, which helped the event garner prestige over time.  Thank you to all who have supported this event through the years.  Since its inception and long-standing title recognition from top-level competition, the direction remains to keep this a WNT Ranking event thanks to the support of Chris Wilburn.  

 

A little about Bob, aka “Whitey”.  He was a notorious stake horse originally hailing from North Carolina before coming to Virginia, where he owned and operated a successful Transmission shop, “County Transmissions” located in Vienna, VA.  Bob loved action and was well known as a “high roller” with an Atlantic City habit when pool action was dry, often bringing stories back to the pool room of $10k a hand blackjack.  World-class players from all over, such as Santos Sambajon, Amar Kang, Tony Chohan, Francisco Bustamante,  Rudolfo Luyat,  Leonardo Andam, Keith McCready, Jose Parica, and many more would visit for the local tour, all knowing the possibility of big action sets with Bob around.  Bob once staked Pooky (Grai) against Scott Frost when they played One Pocket for a week straight.  That is the longest money match Scott has ever played.

 

Rest in Peace, Bob Stocks.  Also, rest in Peace to the many loyal players from our region who have passed over the years.  With the many memorial tournaments that have come and gone, this Memorial tournament serves to honor anyone who was part of this region’s rich history of pool.  Please join us in the continuation of this event, whether it’s competing, sharing, commenting, sponsoring, or viewing our event.
