2025 Bob Stocks Memorial

The Bob Stocks Memorial Tournament, first held in 2006 shortly after Stocks’ passing, has become a staple of the Northern Virginia and D.C. Metro pool community. Originally supported by the Tiger Tour, First Break Sports Bar, and close friends such as Ceci Strain, Andy Lincoln, Nick Prinsloo, and others, the event grew with the help of major contributors like Brandon Shuff. Stocks—known as “Whitey”—was a mentor, stake horse, and key figure in the region’s vibrant action scene, influencing players like Shuff during their formative years. Over the years, the tournament has drawn top talent including Adam Smith, Dennis Hatch, Shaun Wilkie, Ryan McCreesh, Mike Sigel, Fedor Gorst, BJ Ussery, and, most recently, Lee Vann Corteza. Despite gaps caused by various circumstances, the Memorial has shown remarkable longevity and meaning, honoring both Stocks and the many players the community has lost.

Now run with renewed energy by Brandon Shuff, Chris Wilburn, and Cole Haas—owner of On Cue Sports Bar & Grill in Front Royal, VA—the event continues to evolve while staying true to its roots. The latest edition featured a strong field, with Vann Corteza ultimately defeating Shuff in the finals. Thanks to the support of On Cue’s staff and sponsors like Universal Cues, CPBA Cloth, Taom Billiards, Diamond Tables, CW Designs, and streamworks.gg, the Memorial is entering a new chapter, set to return this spring as a World 9-Ball Tour event. Shuff remains deeply connected to the tournament, driven by the lessons and encouragement Stocks instilled in him—namely, to seek out challenges, embrace competition, and honor the legacy of those who shaped the regional pool scene.
